1. Sandcastle 13.6.-29.8. and the Playhouse Village 13.6.-16.8.2010

The biggest Sandcastle in Finland can be admired in the harbour of Lappeenranta. This year the castle is themed around dinosaurs! This summer you can once again visit also the adjacent Playhouse Village where the smallest members of the family can have a great time!

2. Merry street train in Lappeenranta 13.6. – 16.8.2010

Hop on board the funny street train that will take you around the streets and harbour of Lappeenranta – the tours are guided in different languages. Mon 12-17, Tue-Sun 10-17, last departure from the Sandcastle at 17. Departure every hour, tickets from the driver.

3. Imatrankoski Rapid Shows 28.6. – 15.8.2010 daily at 6 pm

Welcome to admire the magnificent rapid show in Imatra. During the rapid show the water flows freely and this spectacle is accompanied by different styles of music, e.g. Sibelius! For the daredevils there is also something to experience: you can glide across the flowing rapids along a steel cable.

4. Cruises on Lake Saimaa and River Vuoksi in Imatra – and also to Vyborg in Russia

Large variety of cruise boats take you around the beautiful Lakeland archipelago of Lake Saimaa. You can choose from a two hour Saimaa Canal cruise to a three hour archipelago cruise – on some boats you can even enjoy lunch or dinner. The definite favourites of the children are the pirate cruises on m/s Camilla on Mondays. Daily departures from Lappeenranta harbour 19.5. – 29.8.2010, Vuoksi Fishing Park 18.6.-20.8., and specific days from Imatra Spa 8.6.-31.8.2010. 5. Fishing and lovely farm animals

Lohionginta Korpikeidas is a fishing place with a guaranteed catch. You can take your freshly caught fish with you or have it smoked. A domestic animal park is an excellent destination for family trips. Sheep, rabbits, chickens and roosters, guinea pigs, chipmunks, turkeys, pigeons, emus, a miniature pig and pony riding. Vuoksi Fishing Park in Imatra by river Vuoksi offers also fun activities for families, also camping available.

6. Golf & mini golf

Imatra golf course offers 18 holes by Lake Immalanjärvi. Lappeenranta Kahilanniemi golf course is located near the city centre (9 holes) and has a brand new water range. Etelä-Saimaa golf course on Tuosa Island in Lappeenranta is the most beautiful golf course in whole Finland (18 holes)! Mini golf in offered in Huhtiniemi Holiday resort in Lappeenranta and by Vuoksi River next to Imatra swimming hall.

In the spectrolite Gem Village you can take a guided tour and see how the gems are turned into jewellery on the spot! There is also a café and restaurant, as well as a gem museum.

8. Lappeenranta Fortress and Majurska house

In the old Fortress area you can find interesting museums and lovely handicraft shops. Don’t forget to visit the yellow Majurska house and taste the most delicious pastries and cakes in Finland – all hand baked on the spot.

9. Water-SkiZoo – water activities at Imatra Spa harbour & Saimaa Adventures

10. Cosy cottages by Lake Saimaa

Pleasant way to spend ones summer holiday is to stay in an own summer cottage or villa and enjoy the beautiful nature and scenery. Many of the cottages are situated by the lake and have their own sauna as well as rowing boat. You can choose from the regions of Imatra or Lappeenranta.
