How to get there?
Vyborg is situated close to the Finnish-Russian border, just 60 km from Lappeenranta and Imatra. Vyborg is easy to reach from South Karelia – by boat from Lappeenranta along the Saimaa Canal, as well as by bus or train (Allegro: www.vr.fi), and even by ones own car. There are even visa free boat trips available from Lappeenranta to Vyborg.
If you wish you can easily continue your journey from Vyborg to the metropolis of St. Petersburg by bus or train. The new Allegro train takes you in 1,5 hours from Vainikkala railway station to St. Petersburg!
What to do there?
Vyborg’s cultural, historical and architectural monuments as well as the charming landscapes, streets and cobble-stone roadways attract tourists from all over the world. Day by day comfortable hotels, private inns, versatile restaurants and cafes serve their clients at European level. For shopping enthusiasts, Vyborg is a paradise! In this town you can admire the only medieval castle in Russia, walk along the romantic Monrepos Park and visit the historical Viking village of Svargas. The center "Hermitage-Vyborg" invites guests to its new exhibition. It is called "The Spanish art in the collection of the State Hermitage." The center "Hermitage-Vyborg" is situated in a unique building of architect Uno Ullberg, where in the Finnish time was the school of art and museum.
Unique historical scenery, that has preserved the spirit of the middle ages, draws attention of both Russian and foreign film studios.
